ALWAYS SLICK
Spirit of Speed
In our pursuit of speed, we dive deeper into the history of Drag Racing. We pulled out our trusty paint brush and began painting a Gasser. The Gasser style is a type of hot rod originating in the States in the late 1950s, and continuing until the early 1970s. They were considered the fastest stock racers available. The Gassers are based on closed body production models from the 1930s to mid-1960s, which have been stripped. The suspension is raised from the stock position to the rear for better traction. The most famous of these racers are the 1933-36 Willys Coupes. The low production number of Willys made the car a cult classic and the envy of many racers.
Riverdale Raceway
Deep in the woods of Cowlitz County, Washington, lies Riverdale Raceway: home to local groups of enthusiasts that come out weekend after weekend. Riverdale Raceway’s drag strip is set up for Sportsman 500 1/8 mile handicap racing. On any given weekend, the smell of race fuel and the standard of Hoosier Tires, M&H and Firestones remain the staple for a good time.
